Browne Lake

I had the opportunity to take some time off work and go camping with my amazing wife. I always have such a fun time hanging out with her. Especially when we can get away to the out of doors. Just look how much fun she has fishing!

We went up to the lake the same time as my uncle and aunt Mark and Terry. They are always super fun to hang out with. I told them its because they are still kind of immature.
This was a two-point we saw on our nature drive the first night there. We also saw a couple of bighorn sheep. Now Annie finally believes me that they exist.

We spent a fair amount of time fishing out of my newly acquired hunting boat. We trolled on a couple different lake with only moderate success. My cousin Korry and his kids were also with us. Jayden caught the most out of the boat I think. Trent, my other cousin, lost the most lures though.

These are a couple of night shots I took from our camp. Trent helped me figure out how to take them. Pretty cool pictures considering they were taken at 10:30 at night.

The most successful fishing I had was on the stream behind the lake. I probably caught 30 in a couple hours. They were almost all 8-10" brook trout but still tons of fun. Annie was nice enough to come photograph me.

Thanks Annie for convincing me to take off work. It was tons of fun and I can't wait to do it again!

Coon Hunting

I got to go raccoon hunting with Mitch and David the other night. It was pretty fun. This raccoon wouldn't fall out of the tree though. After getting shot twice, it still wouldn't come down. It took both Mitch and Dave climbing up and hitting it with 10 foot branches to knock it out. David's dog Duke did really good. He kept barking almost the entire 40 minutes it took to get it out.

Barrow's Mount

I got my Barrow's Goldeneye mount back from the taxidermist. It turned out really good. It is probably my favorite mount so far. The water and ice in the base are really a good touch. Thanks Annie for letting me get it!

Yellowstone 2010

4/18/2010-4/20/2010

Got the chance to go to Yellowstone for a few days with my wife and my parents. It was a really fun trip. Its always too short though. We saw lots of animals and even a few firsts. I have never seen a river otter before so spotting one all on our own was really cool. Colton came on this trip too so you that pretty much guarantees seeing at least one bear. We actually saw two. We also saw bighorn sheep. I haven't ever seen these in Yellowstone before. They were really cool. We got to watch a group of big rams for quite a while. It was a really fun trip and I can't wait until the next one!

3/10/10

Today is officially the last day of the 2009-2010 Utah waterfowl season. I made it out one last time after the snows. We have been following them for the last three days and they are the weirdest birds in the whole world. Turns out the field they had been feeding in is now their roost. When we had our chance this morning none of us had guns in our hands but Mitch got to his quick enough to get shots off. He hit two with his first shot and missed the other two. We had two others come in barely close enough to shoot at. One of them got hit pretty good and started to fall like he was going to crash but then caught himself and ended up flying away. It was still a really fun day, and a really great season. I can't wait for September to get here; only 175 days until dove hunting starts.

Snow Geese!

Me and Mitch went after the snows again this morning. It turned out a little better this time. Mitch found the birds yesterday but the owner of the field didn't want us in there because it was so muddy. We still managed a couple without having to go into the field. Didn't turn out quite the way we had hoped but still pretty cool to get my first snow goose.
